Criterion has been set for the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) during The Championships, and has been confirmed to contest the 2015 George Ryder Stakes as a second point of call after finishing a credible third in the Canterbury Stakes (1300m) first-up a fortnight ago.

Posting five race wins and a further nine minor place finishes over his 24 start career so far, Criterion was a standout performer over the 2014 edition of the Autumn Carnival; finishing second to Shamus Award in the Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) and winning both the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m) and Group 1 Australian Derby (2000m) most notably.

Returning in spring for minor place finishes in each of the Group 2 Warwick Stakes (1400m), Group 2 Hill Stakes (2000m) and Group 1 Caulfield Stakes (2000m) most notably, the Sebring entire performed to a typically high standard in the Group 1 Hong Kong Cup (2000m) over summer; running third behind leading locals Designs On Rome and Military Attack.

Trainer Chris Waller is set to dominate the running of the 2015 George Ryder Stakes after including a total of six of his stable stars in the final field, including the likes of Sacred Falls, Weary and three-year-old Kermadec.

Having won the two most recent editions of the Doncaster Mile, Sacred Falls returned in spring for several strong results, including a fourth Group 1 victory in the George Main Stakes over a mile on September 20th.

Allocated the wide and awkward barrier 13, veteran jockey Jim Cassidy has been confirmed to take the ride on the son of O’reilly this weekend.

Weary was a standout for Waller last autumn; taking out the Group 3 Doncaster Prelude (1500m) on April 5th before placing third in the Doncaster Mile and second in the Group 1 All Aged Stakes (1400m).

While unable to make an impact over three disappointing spring starts, the son of Astronomer Royal won the Group 2 Expressway Stakes (1200m) first-up this time before running third in the Group 2 Apollo Stakes (1400m).

Though unable to match the late pace in the Group 1 Chipping Norton over a mile last time out, a step-back in distance to 1500m is sure to play into Weary’s strengths on Saturday.

Unlucky to be blocked for a run and fourth in the Australian Guineas last time out, Kermadec has been charged with carrying just 56kgs in the 2015 George Ryder Stakes and will be partnered by leading Irish jockey Ryan Moore.

Japanese sensations World Ace (barrier 7) and Real Impact (barrier 12) have also been confirmed for the 2015 George Ryder Stakes, in a field notably missing Cox Plate winner Adelaide, who was be kept for a first-up appearance likely in the 2015 Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
