The champion mare has returned to racing in typically devastating form this year and will be seeking a sixteenth-consecutive race win when she takes her position in the 2017 George Ryder Stakes field and an eleventh at the highest level.

Capping her 2016 preparation with her most convincing win to date in the Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m), Winx resumed this time for a comfortable win in the Group 2 Apollo Stakes (1400m), before jogging home to win the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) most recently.

Drawn in barrier 8, Winx will be partnered by leading and regular hoop Hugh Bowman in the George Ryder Stakes.

Trainer Chris Waller is launch a multi-pronged attack after also confirming Endless Drama (barrier 4) and McCreery (barrier 6) in the George Ryder Stakes field.

Chautauqua and Le Romain produced an exciting finish to the Group 1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m) a fortnight ago and both horses have been confirmed in the 2017 George Ryder Stakes field.

A multiple Group 1 champion, Chautauqua arguably found career-best form to date last spring; winning each of the Group 1 Black Caviar Lightning Stakes (1000m) and Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) most notably, before taking out the Group 1 Chairman’s Sprint Prize (1200m) in Hong Kong.

While failing to come up in the spring, the Encosta De Lago gelding resumed this time for third in the Group 2 Rubiton Stakes (1300m), before his close second in the Canterbury Stakes last time out.

Le Romain has returned to racing in scintillating form this time and is arguably the best-positioned horse in the 2017 George Ryder Stakes to challenge Winx.

Winning both the Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m) and Group 1 Cantala Stakes (1600m) most notably in 2016, Le Romain resumed this time for a smart win in the Group 3 Liverpool City Cup (1200m) on February 13th, in what was his only other start prior to winning the Canterbury Stakes.

Hauraki returned to the races for third in the Canterbury Stakes and will relish a step up in distance and a firmer racing surface when he lines up in the 2017 George Ryder Stakes field.

The Reset gelding finished in the minors in a number of Group 1 feature races through his early racing career and finally broke through for a maiden win at the highest level in the Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) last spring.

Tosen Stardom (barrier 9), Leebaz (barrier 3) and Sylpheed complete the 2016 George Ryder Stakes field.
