2017 George Ryder Stakes Odds & Betting Update

March 16th, 2017

Nine runners have been confirmed in the 2017 George Ryder Stakes field, but it is understandably equine superstar Winx who figures as the clear odds-on favourite to win the Group 1 race at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday.

Winx is seeking a sixteenth-consecutive race win when she takes her place in the 2017 George Ryder Stakes field and should prove typically impossible to beat under the conditions of the race.

Resuming this time for a comfortable win in the Group 2 Apollo Stakes (1400m), the Street Cry mare made light work of the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) field last time out.

Regular hoop Hugh Bowman will take the ride on Winx, who will leave from barrier 8 in the George Ryder Stakes.

Chautauqua ($7.50) is understandably the only other runner currently available at 2017 George Ryder Stakes odds of less-than $10 with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au.

A five-time Group 1 winner, Chautauqua found career-best form to date through the 2016 Autumn Carnival; winning each of the Group 1 Black Caviar Lightning Stakes (1000m) and Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) most notably.

Storming home to win the Group 1 Chairman’s Sprint Prize (1200m) in Hong Kong in May, the Encosta De Lago gelding failed to come up in the spring and was sent to the paddock after he finished seventh in the Group 1 Manikato Stakes (1200m).

Having run third in the Group 2 Rubiton Stakes (1100m) first-up this time, Chautauqua finished an agonizingly-close second in the Group 1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m) last time out and appears as though he will relish a step up to 1500m on Saturday.

Le Romain is yet to herald much interest in 2017 George Ryder Stakes betting markets, but remains the sole occupant of the third line of betting at $11 odds.

Le Romain was a standout for Kris Lees in 2016 and posted impressive wins in each of the Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m) and Group 1 Cantala Stakes (1600m) most notably.

Resuming this time for a smart win in the Group 3 Southern Cross Stakes (1200m), the Hard Spun gelding bobbed his head at the right time to win the Canterbury Stakes last time out and is sure to improve in stepping up in distance this.

Hauraki and Tosen Stardom represent terrific value for money on the fourth line of betting and are currently available at 2017 George Ryder Stakes odds of $26 at Ladbrokes.com.au.
