In an emotional return to the winners circle, Chris Waller’s six-year-old Pentire gelding Rangirangdoo scored their second elite level victory in their injury-marred career with a gritty win in the $400,000 Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill’s 2011 Golden Slipper Day.

Last autumn Rangirangdoo was in red-hot form finishing second in the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes (2000m) and then taking out the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m).

Badly injured after the race, Rangirangdoo was spelled after his breakthrough Group 1 success, Waller and connections taking 11 months of hard work to get their star back in racing fitness.

Rangirangdoo resumed with a first-up fourth behind the mighty More Joyous in the Group 2 Canterbury Stakes (1300m) on March 19 before their feel good win in the George Ryder on April 2.

In a race full of proven gallopers and last-start winners, Rangirangdoo ($15) was ridden to perfection by Corey Brown who guided the horse over the line in a photo finish just a half-head in front of Love Conquers All ($21) with the fellow Chris Waller-trained Triple Elegance ($9) just a further half-neck back for third and Aloha running 4th.

Rangirangdoo has now won nine of his 20 career starts for over $1.7 million in prize money.

Punters that backed Rangirangdoo at Luxbet enjoyed the best winning payouts on the George Ryder Stakes today.

Rangirangdoo is nominated for the $2 million Doncaster Mile (1600m) at Randwick on April 16.

For the full ante-post Doncaster Mile odds and betting markets, lead by More Joyous who took her record to five Group 1 wins in the Queen of the Turf on Golden Slipper Day, sign up with Luxbet now!

Golden Slipper Day 2011 will light up Sydney’s Rosehill Racecourse this Saturday April 2, the day host to an incredible five Group 1 showdowns including $400,000 Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m).

Running as Rosehill Race 6 at 3:10pm (AEDST), one event before the premier horse racing showdown of the season the $3.5 million Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m), the 2011 George Ryder Stakes has drawn a star-studded field of 15.

We are tipping Wall Street to claim an upset George Ryder Stakes win so back them now at the best price through Luxbet!

In a fairly open betting market, current favourite to become the George Ryder Stakes winner this year is #13 Aloha paying around $5 at the bookies.

Mick Price’s beautifully bred daughter of Encosta De Lago, Aloha is out to extend her sensational streak of wins to six straight on Saturday.

Most recently the four-year-old claimed an impressive 2 ½ length win in the Group 1 Coolmore Classic at this track and distance.

She faces a tougher field of rivals in the George Ryder Stakes field, however, but benefits from the ideal barrier three draw and having in-form hoop Glen Boss aboard for the ride.

Four other runners are at a single-figure price to win the George Ryder on Saturday with last-start Liverpool City Cup winner Triple Elegance ($7), Emirates Stakes runner-up Dao Dao ($8), Group 1 Randwick Guineas champion Ilovethiscity ($8) and Kiwi galloper King Mufhasa ($9).

Despite the claims these runners have, we are tipping a $13 outsider to claim an upset and have Wall Street rated special to win.

Best George Ryder Stakes Tips

#4 Wall Street – Lock in to Win at Luxbet now

Six-year-old Montjeu gelding from New Zealand coming off two Group 1 second place finishes back home, won the Emirates Stakes over the mile at Flemington last year. Distance is ideal, has the class and with rain around will be hard to beat.

#14 Ilovethiscity – Best Place Bet through Luxbet

Drawn wide but has time to overcome, coming off a Group 1 victory in the Randwick Guineas where they hung on well. Close second.

#13 Aloha – Add into Trifecta at Luxbet

Has the form, the last start Group 1, draw and ability over all types of ground. Still, faces her toughest test here.

#2 Rangirangdoo – Clean up with a Box Trifecta or First Four with Luxbet

Last year’s Doncaster winner resumed after 11 months in the Canterbury Stakes here last start on March 19, fitness failed them but should improve here.

See below for the full 2011 George Ryder Stakes field, barriers and weights.

To take advantage of these insider Rosehill Race 6 tips at the best price, make sure you sign up with leading online bookmaker Luxbet today.

On Saturday, six-year-old Danleigh ran the perfect Doncaster Mile preparation when he claimed victory in the $400,000 Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill as part of the Easter celebrations of Golden Slipper Day.

Going out as the $4.60 favourite, the Chris Waller-trained Danleigh defeated home Dao Dao ($7.50) by 1 ¾ lengths with reigning New Zealand Horse of the Year King Mufhasa ($13.00) just under a length back for third.

King Mufhasa also ran third in last year’s George Ryder behind Vision And Power, both unlucky placings blamed on the wet conditions.

It was an impressive victory, Danleigh’s third Group 1 win, as he beat a sensational field of gallopers including Heart Of Dreams ($7.50) who finished sixth and Black Piranha ($6) a well beaten ninth.

After settling worse than mid-field, Danleigh, ridden expertly by Hugh Bowman, made a late burst overtaking early leaders King Mufhasa and Dao Dao to secure the win in the final few metres.

A son of Mujahid, Danleigh has now saluted in eight of his 31 career starts for over $1.3 million in prizemoney. His other two Group 1 successes came in the All Aged Stakes and the Manikato Stakes.

With the strong win, Danleigh, once considered only a sprinter, has raced into contention for the $1.5million Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) to be held at Randwick on April 17.

Danleigh is now the second favourite at $6.50 for the Doncaster Mile with IASbet, shortened from his pre-George Ryder win price of $14, behind Australia’s top rated mare Typhoon Tracy currently at $3.60.

In related news, nine-year-old Pins gelding El Segundo has been retired after the four-time Group 1 winner suffered a tendon injury running fifth behind Danleigh in the George Ryder on Saturday.

Rosehill was host to an incredible five Group 1 races on Saturday and the winners of the other feature events were the Bart Cummings-trained Faint Perfume in the $400,000 Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (also known as the Storm Queen Stakes), brilliant mare Typhoon Tracy in the $400,000 Group 1 Queen of the Turf Stakes, Littorio in the second richest race at the meeting the $2.25million Group 1 The BMW, and late entry Crystal Lily in the highlight event the $3.5million Group 1 Golden Slipper.

This Saturday Rosehill will host its most prestigious autumn race meeting, Golden Slipper Day.

As part of the action-packed line up on the day the $400, 000 Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) will run featuring 14 weight-for-age stars.

Peter Moody’s brilliant mare Typhoon Tracy is missing from the 2010 George Ryder Stakes final field, Moody instead opting to run her in Queen of the Turf Stakes at the same meeting.

Premier trainer Moody will still be represented in the George Ryder Stakes, as he attempts multiple group one victories on Saturday, by his improving Phar Lap Stakes winner Tickets.

The three-year-old Redoute’s Choice colt has drawn mid-field with barrier seven and will have skilled hoop Luke Nolen aboard.

One of the biggest winners from the barrier draw was the Mick Price-trained Heart Of Dreams who is set to start from barrier two.

The consistent Show A Heart gelding’s ideal draw will see them start as one of the favourites and they will be looking to enjoy an easier run than they had last start from barrier eight when running a gallant fourth in the Australian Cup.

The Chris Waller-trained Danleigh is another strong contender in the 2010 George Ryder Stakes and will jump from barrier six with Hugh Bowman aboard.

Veteran seven-year-old Vision and Power has drawn the prized barrier one the bay Carnegie gelding looking to secure back-to-back success in the George Ryder Stakes after claiming victory in the race last year.

The Easter Saturday race meeting at Rosehill is packed full of excellent Group 1 features including the scheduled highlight, the $3.5million Group 1 AAMI Golden Slipper (1200m) where the nation’s most promising two-year-olds will face off for the most lucrative prize for juveniles in the world.

Other headline events include the $2.25million Group 1 The BMW (2400m), the $400, 000 Group 1 Queen of the Turf Stakes (1500m) and the $400, 000 Group 1 Storm Queen Stakes (2000m) known this year as the Vinery Stud Stakes.

The 2010 Hong Kong – Asia’s World City George Ryder Stakes will run as race six on the meeting’s elite nine-event card and is due to jump at 3:10pm.

This Saturday as part of the sensational race day scheduled for Rosehill Gardens, which will be headlined by the illustrious $3.5million Group 1 Golden Slipper Stakes, four other Group 1 features will run including the $400, 000 George Ryder Stakes (1500m).

The 2010 George Ryder Stakes has attracted a capacity sized field of 17 nominations with some impressive hopefuls including Australia’s highest-rated mare Typhoon Tracy.

The Peter Moody-trained Typhoon Tracy has a near perfect record of nine wins from 12 career starts and is already a four time Group 1 winner. The brilliant daughter of Red Ransom was looking to secure her fifth top level victory in the Coolmore Classic on March 20, but was withdrawn after being allocated a massive 61kg.

Premier trainer Moody also has his improving Redoute’s Choice colt Tickets nominated for the George Ryder Stakes, coming off a victory in the Group 2 Phar Lap Stakes.

Other top nominees include Mick Price’s four-year-old Heart Of Dreams coming off a luckless fourth in the Group 1 Australian Cup, third placegetter in the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes Danleigh and last start Group 2 Blamey Stakes winner Lord Tavistock.

Racing veterans nominated for the 2010 George Ryder Stakes include eight-year-old El Segundo, seven-year-old Vision And Power and the Tracey Bartley-trained Sniper’s Bullet.

The final field of acceptances for the 2010 George Ryder Stakes will be announced later in the week and published here.

This year the illustrious $400, 000 Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) will take place at Sydney’s beautiful Rosehill Gardens racecourse on April 3 as part of the terrific line-up of events scheduled for Golden Slipper Day.

Four other Group 1 features will take place at the meeting – the $3.5million Golden Slipper, $2.25million The BMW, $400, 000 Queen of the Turf Stakes and the $400, 000 Storm Queen Stakes.

As the winner of the 2010 George Ryder Stakes is exempt from ballot and penalty for the prestigious Group 1 Doncaster Handicap at Randwick on April 17, it is sure to be a hotly contested race attracting an elite field of sprinters and milers.

Two of the best early indicators for the George Ryder Stakes are the Group 2 Canterbury Stakes and the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes. In past years many of the same horses that contest these earlier weight-for-age races continue on with a run in the George Ryder Stakes.

It is an excellent idea to watch the winners and placegetters in both of these events when sizing up which horses will run and do well in the George Ryder Stakes.

Australia’s top rated mare, the brilliant Typhoon Tracy is a possible 2010 George Ryder Stakes runner

Australia’s top rated mare, the brilliant Typhoon Tracy is looking at the George Ryder Stakes following her third Group 1 win in the Futurity Stakes. Trainer Peter Moody will look at the George Ryder Stakes as well as the Queen of the Turf Stakes for his Red Ransom mare on April 3.

Another possible nominee for the 2010 George Ryder Stakes is the promising Brett Partelle-trained galloper Walking Or Dancing. The five-year-old son of Falvelon won the Magic Millions Cup at the Gold Coast in impressive style back in January and has since then trialled well at Gosford.

Nominations for the 2010 George Ryder Stakes will close on Monday, March 29 and the final field of acceptances will then be declared on Wednesday March 31 and published here.
